Creating a new brand identity for Wales’ leading contemporary gallery
Mostyn was set to reopen its doors in the spring of 2010. Before the grand opening, View Creative was awarded the branding contract to create a new identity for Mostyn and to manage the subsequent roll out of the new brand.
The new logo symbolised the traditional facade combined with the new modern extension. As a subtle reference to this, the angular tip of the ‘M’ was cropped, and replaced with a gold abstract shape.
The logo is based on the uppercase of Claude Sans with adjusted letter-spacing to enhance its legibility when placed on coloured or photographic backgrounds. The new logo was applied to a range of print material and brochures, together with a new website for the gallery.
In addition to the corporate logo, we devised guidelines and a strategy for rolling out the brand, which included advice and guidance on image, photography, marketing and signage.
