It is with immense sadness that our colleague and dear friend Sean Slater passed away at Glan Clwyd Hospital on 13 August 2026, aged 54, following a long illness.
For 25 remarkable years, Sean was at the heart of VCA. An exceptionally talented designer and illustrator, his creativity, imagination and unmistakable style brought countless ideas to life and left an enduring mark on our work.
Sean’s contribution went far beyond his extraordinary talent. His kindness, humour, loyalty and friendship made the studio a better place. It was a genuine privilege to work alongside him and to share so many years, projects, conversations and memories.
Sean will always be an important part of the VCA story. His influence will live on through the work he created and in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Sean was the much-loved husband of Julie; dad to Tomos and Lucy; father-in-law to Jordan and Charlotte; and pops to Matilda, Lyra and Artemis. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Julie, family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for everything, Sean. You will be remembered with enormous affection and missed more than words can say.
With love, from everyone at VCA
