Conwy is a medieval town in North Wales with its famous castle and harbour. In 2019 the local authority Conwy County Borough Council created a new £3.7 million pound Cultural Centre Building on the old school site to replace the library which has been in Conwy since 1864.
Sensitively designed to keep a low profile in its exceptional surroundings, the new Conwy Culture Centre has recently opened its doors to the public. A Blackdown extensive sedum green roof completes the low-lying, single storey centre, helping it to become part of, and give back to the natural environment.
Completed in 2019 on the site of an ex-primary school building, it is now a modern masterpiece designed to inform and entertain visitors in a beautiful, relaxing setting. The Centre has been awarded the BREEAM Excellent standards.
The client was looking for a contemporary bilingual logo for the new centre which represented the architectural features of the building which was divided into sections. We also wanted something that acknowledged the old library back in 1864 and used typography as the inspiration.
