Hay Festival is a charity registered as Hay Festival Foundation Ltd, bringing readers and writers together to share stories and ideas in sustainable events live and online. The Festivals inspire, examine and entertain globally, inviting participants to imagine the world as it is and as it might be. Nobel Prizewinners and novelists, scientists and politicians, historians, environmentalists and musicians take part in the Festival’s global conversation, sharing the latest thinking in the arts and sciences with curious audiences.
After years of using a simple Garamond logo with limited branding alongside, Hay Festival commissioned Pentagram to rebrand the organisation in 2018, creating a visual architecture and brand story to express our work around the world.
In 2021, we undertook a brand review and set a refreshed colour scheme for a number of our events, while offering supplementary design work (new illustrations and an additional font) and new brand usage for our UK Festival campaign, which we rolled out internationally. We undertook a similar piece of work in 2022, working with an illustrator to contribute new art to work alongside the materials.
