Hilltop Honey, a Welsh honey producer renowned for its premium, ethically sourced honey products, commenced its journey in 2011 as a modest venture. Over time, it has blossomed into a major player within the UK honey market.

In 2020, VCA partnered with Hilltop Honey to revitalise its branding, recognising the necessity for a contemporary image to combat the encroachment of larger competitors like Rowse. Through comprehensive brand evaluation and research, it became apparent that Hilltop required a rejuvenated identity to compete with upscale honey brands. Consequently, we proposed rebranding the main entity as 'Hilltop,' shedding the specificity of 'Honey' to pave the way for diversification into non-honey-related sub-brands. Our objective was to weave the narrative of the 'Hilltop Family Story,' setting them apart from established UK conglomerates.

The rebranding initiative encompassed a comprehensive overhaul, spanning 14 distinct products across 6 flavors. Notably, we introduced innovative packaging solutions for their Everyday range, featuring reusable glass jars and 100% recyclable bottles. Additionally, strategic refinement of brand language fortified their market positioning.

The results were transformative: an increase in workforce, substantial revenue growth, and successful penetration into major retailers such as Asda, Sainsbury, and Waitrose, commanding a significant share of the UK honey market. Notably, in 2022, Hilltop clinched eleven Great Taste Awards, cementing its reputation for excellence.

Today, Hilltop stands as one of the UK's fastest-growing food producers, boasting an impressive trajectory from a £234,000 turnover in 2011 to nearly £12 million in 2023, employing over 50 dedicated staff members.
